To the ones still out there...

(Versão em português abaixo)

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since any of us made a post here. Well, that's basicaly because we agreed not to share unfinished content. There are actually three games being made (as you may guess, work is being done really slow...).

The reason I'm writting right now is just to give something for the few that still visit this blog. We still didn't manage to get a big hit out there, but even then, some people just keep coming here, and maybe they are wondering what is going on.

Fabienne and Sarah are taking care of their own business, we never gave up on our project together, it's just that all of us have jobs and making something with people from other countries that have little to no time available is not easy. We haven't talked for a while, but as slow as it is, it will eventually be finished. Meanwhile, I started something else by myself.

The third project was/is Dark Ball 2.2. While the idea didn't come from me, I ended up interested. But the guy who started the modifications didn't finish it (as you may have noticed...) and that is not a priority right now, even because people already lost interest in the game by this point.

Last, I just want to say that I'm aware this post is kind of an attempt to reafirm my will to never give up. This is one of my biggest fears in life, I've seen too many interesting projects around the web that died prematurely. The reason I talk vaguely and don't post pictures is that it makes me feel arrogant. You can't expect to receive a good feedback from "half a painting" or "half a song" and if you do, that shouldn't be enough to satisfy you. I think this is the reason some people never finish what they start.

Well, overall that may have sounded a bit depressing, but really, it's just meant to be informative.

Thank you sporadic visitors.

Dark Ball 2 OST - Download

While we are still working on our next project, I thought about posting something just to shout "we are still alive" to the world.

We still have no idea when our next game will be done, it will take as long as it needs. Parallel to our work, an upgraded version of Dark Ball 2 by psychrome is being finished, which will probably be out by november.

For those interested, here is the OST for Dark Ball 2 [320Kbps]:

So, if you couldn't reach the final boss, here is your chance to listen its theme : )

These songs can also be earned as gifts through normal gameplay, but it takes a long time until you fulfill all the requirements to get the complete list. Besides, I thought it would be nice to include an album artwork...

I hope you enjoy! ; )

Sarah desu. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

No people, I don't speak japanese, I was just trying to be original. u_u

My name is Sarah, here in Nebula Flare you can call me Sarah Sober. I'm going to be the 3D artist for our current project. Unfortunately, there is not much else I can say about that, according to Fabienne and Elias (aka Lord Cinneris) everything here is top secret.

Let me just give you a notion about how crazy (in a good way) they are. These are Lord's words when we were deciding whether I would be part of the team:

"(...) you cannot show any of your work to anyone. Ever. Showing unfinished works gives bad luck."

And then comes Fabienne:

"That's true. I've written a poem and my sister read it before I could finish it. It's still unfinished, my inspiration is totally gone."

Fabienne and I were already friends long before she found nebula flare, actually, she's been bugging me to join her for some months now... And here I am... They are way too excentric, hence why I chose "Sober" as my pen name. Anyway, I think I'll be able to do a great work with them.

But there's just one thing I still don't get. Shouldn't the existence of a secret be also a secret? Doesn't that bring bad luck?? Well, that's irrelevant in my opinion, I'll just do what I like to do. And I'll probably not post here often (since I can't show anything... ¬¬)

New team member soon...

Hey guys! I'm just passing by to tell you the most recent news.

As you may already know, we are looking for new members to collaborate on Nebula Team's next project. I'm proud to announce we found a 3D artist! But I'll let her introduce herself in her own post, let me talk about our progress.

Right now, I am finishing the main character's sprites. As far as coding is concerned, Lord C. says the game engine is almost complete, the hardest part is done (I myself played an alpha test version). We did everything from scratch, I feel really proud we got this far, but regarding 3D models, there is a lot of work to be done. Besides that, we're still looking for a level designer and a song composer. I hope I'll be able to show something soon, there's a lot of game art already done, but we agreed only to show anything when we are certain about the launch date.

BTW, did you notice the new layout? I made a new logo for the blog =D

Dark Ball 2.2

No, sorry, it's not out. Yet. I wouldn't write that just to get some attention (or would I?)

Anyway, I stopped working on Dark Ball after version 2.1. And I'll probably never touch it's code again :P

But that's me. Recently I got a request from a friend about adding some stuff to the game. Well, if you ever made something all by yourself (or in a closed group), you probably know that when someone want's to meddle with it you get really upset.

Then, of course, my answer was "no". Followed by a "wait... maybe. Tell me more about it."

I still am not totally convinced, but since I could personally kill him (or just beat him up) in case he tries to post the source code, I decided it was worth a try.

Feel free to tell us what you like and what you don't like and most important, what you would like in the game, as it can be added in this next update.

Dark Ball 2.1 - Download Mirror

Hello everybody, it's being some time!

Here is a new download link for Dark Ball 2.1:

Thanks Rudy.A.Kohn for uploading it!!

This mirror is way faster than rapidshare, but for those of you who want the old link, I kept the file there.

Now, since I'm already here, I'd like to talk about our recent projects. Everything is just fine. That's it.

And Fabienne still owes me a drawing! Ok, I know she's busy making sprites... but she promissed it!

We are becoming a Team! :D

Hello everybody!!! My name is Fabienne Æoli (as you can guess, I created my surname, but my first name is real). I am the newest member of Nebula Flare Team!!!

Including Elias who created Nebula Flare, right now we are... two.

So, it's more like a couple than a team... (I'd better stop before my boyfriend reads this! XD)

But that won't be a problem for too long since we are looking for new members. But before I talk about that, let me introduce myself better.

I'm 21, I study graphic design and I love every form of art! I can't survive without pencil and paper, I feel this constant need to draw what I find beautiful and what comes to my mind. But my interest in computer graphics came late, only when I was 19 that I started to use the computer to draw.

Then I learned about the world of pixel art. I love to create animated sprites, and to imagine how awesome would be to see them in a game.

And luckily I found Elias. We came in contact because of Dark Ball 2. I found a bizarre bug (which he prohibits me to talk about) and sent him an e-mail and ee started to talk a lot. In the beggining, I thought about asking him about game programming and what I should learn. I started studing really hard! It took me only a week to give up.

But we ended up becoming friends and after some talk, we decided to form a team. He says his drawing skills aren't good enough to create the kind of game he wants right now. After he sent me the basic concepts, I've sent him some drafs and then he said: "You didn't do what I asked. You made it better.". And then he asked me if I wanted to try to make this together and here I am.

We decided not to talk too much about our project for now. I can only say it's a really interesting concept, different from anything I've seem, but it's hard to imagine since there's nothing implemented yet.

It all depends if we are going to find all the people we need. Right now we are looking for:

-A song composer.
-Someone with basic knowledge about 3d modeling.
-A C++ programmer who knows the basics of DirectX.

As you can guess, we are doing this for fun. If we end up getting some money, good. Otherwise, there is no guarranty of payment.

If you are interested, send an e-mail to or

That is it guys, next time I'll post one of my drawings, see ya!
